In this edition of Asia Photonics Expo‘s Photonics Spotlight, we are honored to speak with Mr. Liu Wei, General Manager of Jinan Crystrong Photoelectric Technology Co., Ltd., a company stands at the forefront of laser technology innovation. From developing breakthrough 2.8-micron femtosecond lasers to delivering high-stability UV lasers with less than 1% power fluctuation, Crystrong has demonstrated remarkable capabilities across the entire laser industry chain. Q: What are your company’s key innovations or achievements in 2025, and what strategic directions will the company focus on in the coming years?
A: Crystrong is a laser enterprise covering the entire industrial chain, including crystal growth, optical devices, laser research and development, and manufacturing. In terms of innovation, we have successfully developed a 2.8-micron femtosecond laser and a MIR ultrafast OPO, breaking through the technical bottlenecks in the fields of biomedicine and molecular spectroscopy. At the same time, 261nm/320nm continuous UV lasers were launched to achieve high-power and high-stability precision processing and scientific research applications. In terms of achievements, the core component of water-guided lasers – high-stability lasers, with “less than 1% power fluctuation”, have become the core support for semiconductor packaging and aerospace lightweight material processing, and offer efficient plug-and-play solutions for delivery.
Looking ahead, we will continue to break through the key technologies of core components and systems of MIR lasers, deeply cultivate high-growth fields such as industrial micro-processing, medical precision treatment, and scientific research instruments, tap market potential, and expand our business territory. And intensify efforts to expand overseas markets, and build a complete international cooperation system and localized service network.
Q: Photonics is being applied across various industries. Could you share your company’s main application fields and what you consider to be your core competitive advantages?
A: Our primary application areas include micro-processing of semiconductors and hard and brittle materials, the medical field, scientific research instruments and high-end manufacturing.
Our core competitive advantages are reflected in three aspects. Firstly, we possess the full-process independent research and development and manufacturing capabilities from crystal material research and development, optical device manufacturing to the production of complete laser machines. Secondly, we master the core technology of high-power MIR femtosecond lasers, and our technical strength ranks among the top in the industry. Meanwhile, we offer customized solution services, which can quickly respond to customers’ individualized demands and provide integrated solutions ranging from core components to complete systems.
Q: What are your thoughts or expectations for Asia Photonics Expo 2026?
A: APE 2026 is an important window for Asian photonics technology. We hope to showcase the latest breakthroughs of Crystrong in the MIR laser field through this platform and discuss technological integration and application innovation with global partners. We look forward to releasing more “world-first” laser solutions at APE 2026, promoting in-depth cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises in fields such as precision manufacturing and life sciences, and achieving a win-win situation.

Liu Wei, the general manager of Jinan Crystrong Photoelectric Technology Co., Ltd., holds a master’s degree in Optical Engineering from National University of Defense Technology. He used to be a senior executive in a state-owned enterprise and has long been engaged in the fields of low-altitude and commercial aviation.
